Message Well, back from my second shoot with the newly acquired 30D. I certainly put it's abilities to the test this time. I'm experimenting with a technique known as HDRI (High Dynamic Range Images[ing]). Without getting too caught up in boring terminology, the basic idea is that you shoot multiple images with varying exposures and then combine them dynamically on a PC by manually creating a tone map.

What does this mean? Well, you end up with a picture which looks more like what the human eye actually sees. As you will see below, many of the HDR photos when viewed in their original form would have an overexposed sky or an underexposed foreground in order to correctly expose the Z. With HDR I am able to take portions of the photo from different exposure levels and end up with a brilliant image with a dynamic light range. Pretty neat. I can't wait to experiment with it some more!

I included links to some full resolution images, so you’re welcome to download those at your will. I highly recommend taking a peek at them, the level of detail with HDR is absolutely amazing.

The first four photos are not HDR, and are not post processed. They were taken directly from the camera and immediately uploaded after being resized.

If you'd like to request a larger size of a different image, or have any questions about the HDR process, feel free to drop me an e-mail.

And yep, that’s me in the last picture.

Enjoy!

Now, for the HDR:
